Character Workshop w/ Megan Mack

Date: Thursday, May 16
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Instructor: Megan Mack
Prerequisites: None!
Age Limit: This class is appropriate for ages 18+

An infinite number of characters exist within you…get ready to meet some of them! In this class, you will learn how to get out of your own head and into the minds of unique characters that you create on the spot. By exploring different physical, emotional, and vocal choices, you will learn how to develop and maintain strong and memorable characters for your scenes. You will play warm-up games, improv exercises, and short scenes that will boost your confidence on stage. You will learn how to make strong initiations, trust your instincts, and take risks with your characters and ideas. This class will also cover what defines a character, as well as the differences between richly developed characters and default, stock, and stereotypical characters. Whether you are a veteran improviser or are just beginning to do scene work, this class will help you get out of your character comfort zone. Not only is improv fun, but it is also a tool for life: it can make you a better listener, public speaker, and creative thinker.

Please note: There are no prerequisites for this workshop.
