Building Memorable Characters for the Stage w/ Adele Fico

TIME: 12:30pm - 3:00pm
INSTRUCTOR: Adele Fico

In this 9-week course, participants will work on developing characters for improv, sketch, straight plays, and stand-up comedy. Students will be required to write and perform brief monologues. They are encouraged to come to class with at least one character they would like to explore further, an open mind, and a willingness to experiment physically, mentally, and emotionally throughout the process.

ADELE M. FICO is active in all aspects of theatre as a performer, writer, director, and producer. She has worked with many theatrical companies including: Geva Theatre, Blackfriars Theatre, JCC CenterStage, TYKES and Rochester Children’s Theatre. She is one of the founders of the award-winning, sketch comedy troupe, EstroFest, she was elected to the Rochester Theater Hall of Fame and her contributions to the arts have been recognized by the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the National Museum of Motherhood.

Her professional career includes positions with Geva Theatre, WXXI Public Broadcasting Council, Rochester Fringe Festival, and Rochester’s School of the Arts where she served as the Arts Center Director. She enjoys developing local theatrical projects, watercolor painting, and daydreaming about writing her almost scathing memoirs before escaping to Boca Raton wearing a leopard caftan and matching turban.
