Out of Focus: July 2025

Looking to beat the heat? Our shows may be hotter than ever, but The Focus Theater remains a great place to chill out!
On Friday, July 18th, celebrate Rochester Pride with “REVOLT: A Queer Comedy Showcase.” Featuring comedy, drag, and burlesque, this is homegrown entertainment that you don’t wanna miss!
The next day, on Saturday, July 19th, the management presents “Staff Picks: The Armando” featuring friends on the Focus, Ana McCasland and Kate Armstrong!
Then, on Saturday, July 26th, join Kat Kuo as she discusses pathways to performing music-based improv here at the Focus. This meeting, starting at 3:00 PM, is open to both the public and existing community members.
That same night, come out and see Nerds in a Basement! These plucky adventurers combine the spontaneity of improv comedy with the excitement of tabletop role-playing games.
During the first week of August, on Friday the 1st, the theater will be hosting a fundraiser for Healthy Highway. Headlined by Ralph Tetta and hosted by Julia Ispentchian and Jess DeMarte, this evening of stand-up and improv supports a great cause!
Finally, on Saturday, August 2nd, “The Improv Plate” returns. Anyone can perform as a part of this FREE community show.
If you can’t beat the heat, you might as well stay inside and watch something funny. Stay tuned for more exciting events and shows here at The Focus Theater!
