What better way to ring in the new year than with an awesome new blog?
Out of Focus launches today with its monthly events and shows column! Here, we'll be highlighting everything you can look forward to at Rochester's home for local comedy.
On Saturday, January 11th, catch the first performance of “JFT and Friends.” Straight out of Chicago, this improv comedy showcase will feature a rotating cast of performers lead by John Forrest Thompson, better known as the titular JFT! The fun starts at 7:00 PM.
The following week, on Saturday, January 18th, The Focus Theater is proud to present “Revolt.” This queer variety show is a twofer!
At 7:00 PM, catch an all-ages performance, with programming aimed at kids, teens, and families. Then, at 8:30 PM, stick around for an 18+ encore, featuring burlesque performances and other more explicit material. Buy a ticket to both and receive a special discount.
Rounding out January's lineup is Rochester sensation, Nerds in a Basement. These plucky adventurers combine the spontaneity of improv comedy with the excitement of tabletop role-playing games. They hit the stage at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 25th.
Taking a quick peek into February, "The Improv Plate" returns on Saturday, February 1st, at 7:00 PM. Anyone can perform as a part of this FREE community show!
Out of Focus is much more than theater updates and reminders. Get ready for plenty of additional content, including comedy-related deep dives and local performer spotlights.
From shows and classes to additional free events, The Focus Theater is the place to be in 2025!
